Today at 10am I flew up to Hartford, CT to shoot a story about the "Average American". He lives in Windham, CT so we drove the one hour to meet him. Windam is a quaint, small village with a post office and library which easily dates back to the 1800's if not earlier.

He has been declared the ultimate average american by author Kevin O'Keefe who searched the nation over for him and wrote a book about the adventure appropriately called "The Average American". The average american goes by the name of Bob and is a really interesting and nice guy to meet.
We met Bob at his work place, a technical school for high school students, where he is the maintenance supervisor. Among the 140 survey questions Bob answered to determine the average american status were living within 3 miles of a McDonald's, owning two cars and urinates in the shower. Bob meets all the requirements, all 140 of them. He says he was the only one of all that were surveyed to ace the questionnaire.

After spending some time with Bob at the school we headed over to his house where he showed us around. His house is, of course, average. Nothing abnormal about it at all. He lives on a cul-de-sac in a single level with a deck, grill, hot tub and white picket fence. We did interviews with him in a few different locations and shot alot of b-roll. Pretty much the average shoot for the average american. In all I assume the piece will be around 2 to 2 1/2 minutes and will be edited tomorrow.

Bob says he like to come home and read the paper
                                     while he watches television.

Bob Has Taken Up Growing Roses. He still has them even after several frosts!

We finished shooting around 5:30pm and headed back to the airport to catch an eight o'clock flight back to DC. Tomorrow I fly to California for a piece about grape harvests and the lack of migrant workers due to border security increases. I guess that means wine prices will go up!
